About This Quote

The truth is supposed to free you from the truth, but not every other thing that goes into making up that truth. It’s not about getting rid of all other thoughts that clutter the mind; it’s about getting rid of all other things that clutter the mind. The truth can be freeing if it allows us to look upon ourselves honestly and objectively. We may need to admit that we aren’t perfect or that our actions are not always justified or right. But finding ourselves in the midst of this honest gazing at ourselves opens the way to self-knowledge, which is probably the most important life skill there is because it allows us to make better decisions, live more fully, and love more deeply.
